About NewEnglandTravelPlanner.com

A complete travel & visitors guide to the six New England states by veteran travel writer Tom Brosnahan.

What makes NETP special?

1. Guidance, not just information. NETP strives for useful guidance: information and opinion to help you make decisions about where to go, what to do, and how to spend your precious travel time and budget.

The Web is overfilled with travel information, most of it derivative, facile, inaccurate, or low-utility, and with the advent of "Artificial Intelligence," the quantity of low-quality info is set to explode. AI may find valid uses in some fields, but for detailed, nuanced travel guidance, you want a human.

2. NETP is all done "by hand:" no complicated database, no flashy over-design. It's like a book, not a hi-tech machine or a computer game. I personally write all the text, shoot all the photos, plan the links and page orders, design the pages, and do all the HTML coding. Why? Because I find most web designs overly complicated and confusing, with auto-play videos, stuff popping up or zooming in and out, and always "subscribe to our newsletter!"

I follow Einstein's tongue-in-cheek formula: "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler."

3. It's designed for you, not advertisers. I've been a professional travel writer, guidebook author, photographer and travel web creator for over 50 years. I love researching trips and presenting travel info in an accessible way, and I love the responses I get from travelers.

Privacy Policy

I hate junk mail and unsolicited ads, and I certainly wouldn't subject anyone to more of it, so Travel Info Exchange, Inc. (my company) does not track you or gather information on you for any purpose and, having collected no information, we don't have it to sell or provide to anyone else for any purpose whatsoever.

Now comes the big HOWEVER...

I do use Google Analytics to keep track of how many visitors the website receives, and from where, and which pages they visit. This helps me to keep pages current, and to develop new pages based on travel trends. Here's how Google Analytics works:

Visitor Statistics

Google Analytics collects and evaluates data including IP (Internet protocol) addresses, ISP (internet service provider), browser type, referring and exit pages, time of visit, and the number of clicks. This information tracks user movements within the site to show which pages are being visited and for how long, but IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information, and the information collected is only for statistica purposes.

"Cookies"

A "cookie" is a piece of data stored on a user's computer tied to information about that user. Travel Info Exchange, Inc. doesn't collect, store, use or sell cookies or the information customarily included in them.

You can control the presence or absence of cookies on your computer by means of the Tools menu of your web browser software.

Google Analytics and Google AdSense, do use cookies in conjunction with the page tracking and advertising software they place on this website. However, we have no access to or control over those cookies or the information in them.

Web Beacons

A web beacon is a transparent graphic image placed on a website to track the movements of visitors for statistical or navigation purposes. Web beacons can be used to manage the information collected by cookies, and if you have opted out of cookies, your visit will be recorded as anonymous. We do not use web beacons on this site but some of our business partners may do so in conjunction with their advertising. We have no access to the information collected by third party web beacons.
