The State of Maine also operates visitor information centers at several points of entry to the state: Kittery, between I-95 and US 1 (tel 207-439-1319 Houlton, at the junction of I-95 and US 1 (tel 207-532-6346; at Calais, 7 Union Street (tel 207-454-2211) Hampden, on I-95 northbound, Mile 169 (tel 207-862-6628) and southbound at Mile 172 (tel 207-862-6638) Yarmouth, between I-95 (Exit 17) and US 1 (tel 207-846-0833). Meals and rooms in Maine are taxed at a rate of 7%, so look for this tax to be added to your bill each night, and at mealtimes.
