South Station Transportation Center

Boston's South Station Transportation Center (map) has three main parts:

1. South Station for Commuter Rail trains and Amtrak intercity trains. The station's grand hall has a food court and shops.

2. MBTA subway station beneath South Station for Red Line subway trains and Silver Line subway buses. The subway station is entered by descending steps near the stations main entrance.

3. Bus Terminal on the south side of South Station for regional and interstate buses.

Peter Pan Bus Lines (& Bonanza Bus)
Routes go from Boston via Peter Pan's headquarters in Springfield MA (Pioneer Valley) to the Massachusetts Berkshire hills (Great Barrington, Stockbridge, Lee, Lenox, and Pittsfield); and to New York City. More...

Greyhound Lines
Greyhound (tel 212-635-0800) operates buses in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts and Connecticut as well as New York City and Montreal QC. Prominent routes are from New York City to Hartford CT, Springfield MA, Worcester MA, New Haven CT, New London CT, Providence RI and Boston.

Service to Cape Cod is provided in conjunction with Bonanza. The Boston—New York City service has a few buses daily. The direct trip to New York City takes about 4-3/4 hours.

In summer, Greyhound operates daily service from Montreal QC to Burlington VT, North Conway NH, Old Orchard Beach ME and Boston MA. More...
