We
hadn't realized that a wonderful, historic
New York art event would be unfurled during
our visit: Christo and Jeanne-Claude's
installation called "The Gates:" thousands
of metal-post
"gates" hung with "flags" of
orange cloth. The Gates meandered along
23 miles of paths
and roads in Central Park.
