Lonesome Lake, White Mountains NH

Aptly-named Lonesome Lake sits high on a mountainside in New Hampshire's White Mountain National Forest, waiting for hikers to climb from Franconia Notch and admire it (there is no road to the lake).

The White Mountains are not dramatic like the Rockies, but just as satisfying in their own way.
