Bear Creek Mountain Ski Club near Plymouth VT (map) is a ski resort with a difference: it's a private club. You pay a fee to become a lifetime member, then an annual membership fee, and you enjoy private skiing at your own club. The level of personal service is high, as you'd expect in a private club: no waiting at the lift, ski attendants to care for your equipment. One summit lift serves the club's 15 trails on the 1300-foot (396-meter) vertical drop and 60 acres (24 hectares) of terrain. About half of the trails are for novices, and half intermediate. The club is off of VT Route 100 on Rome Top Road (map). It's only a short ride from Bear Creek to the village of Plymouth VT, birthplace of Calvin Coolidge, 30th president of the United States. Bear
