The Inn at Sawmill Farm, VT 100, (PO Box 367), West Dover, VT 05356 (tel 802-464-8131, fax 802-464-8131) appears regularly in designer magazines with lavish spreads of photos showing the guest rooms—Victorian, Federal, turn-of-the-century. The dining rooms are particularly beautiful, providing the perfect ambience for cozy, romantic dinners of elegant, carefully prepared dishes from a positively sumptuous menu. On the inn's carefully tended grounds are a swimming pool, two trout ponds, and a tennis court. The inn proper, an old farmhouse
and barn, houses
11 guest rooms, and in other buildings there
are 10 rooms, each
with a fireplace. Prices may be a bit higher
in foliage season, and between Christmas
and
New Year's. Children
under 10 are not accepted at the inn. Kitzhof, VT 100, West Dover, VT 05356 (tel 802-464-8310 or toll free 800-388-8310) is a particularly nice alpine-style lodge set back from the highway, charging moderate prices. No two of the 25 rooms are alike except in their comfort and sparkling cleanliness. Knotty-pine boards and logs and rustic emphasis; a Finnish sauna and a whirlpool bath are added luxuries open to all guests.
