Marlboro, Vermont | |
| Marlboro VT is a rural village: drive to the dot on the map and you'll find a church, a small town office, and a few houses. | ||

West of Brattleboro are some of Vermont's—and all New England's—loveliest unspoiled villages, worthy of a few days' stay, or at least a meal or a rest stop. Marlboro and Wilmington are on VT Route 9, about 10 miles (16 km) west of Brattleboro, in the direction of Bennington (map). But that's about all, and so for many products and services you must drive to Brattleboro. However, Marlboro College on the outskirts of the village, and its Marlboro Music School and Festival, have put Marlboro on Vermont's cultural map. Dozens of country inns (my longtime favorite is the Whetstone Inn) and restaurants in the area, however, provide well for travelers year round, as well as for festival visitors. |

The Congregational Church of Christ (organized in 1776) marks the center of Marlboro, Vermont.
