Tropical plants bring freshness to an enclosed Garden Court next to the pool and whirlpool bath. Many of the 256 rooms have gorgeous views of Lake Champlain, while others open onto the indoor swimming pool. The more expensive rooms are those with a lake-and-mountain view.

The heart of the hotel is the Summerhouse, a four-story space with translucent ceiling sheltering fountains, plants, and many hotel services. Of the . 310 rooms, higher prices are for the Concierge Level rooms, which have marvelous views of Mt Mansfield and are connected to the main building by an authentic old Vermont covered bridge.

A substantial establishment, it boasts modern rooms and has an outdoor swimming pool open in good weather. A shopping center with services and restaurants is a short walk away. From I-89 take exit 13 to I-189; take I-189 to US 7 and go north to the Colonial.

In addition to a health spa, you get the usual, expected motel comforts—177 rooms with one or two double beds, color TV, free HBO, full bath, even an outdoor swimming pool. Go to the intersection of U.S. 2 and I-89, a quarter mile from Exit 14E.
