GETTING THERE By Car To get across Narragansett Bay from Newport, you will have to cross two bridges on Route 138: first, the Newport Bridge from Newport to Jamestown Island ($2, payable in both directions), and then the Jamestown Bridge from Jamestown Island to Saunderstown (free). The total fee, therefore, to cross from Newport to Saunderstown or vice versa is $2. From Saunderstown, head south on Route 1A (Alternate U.S. 1).
