Music Festivals
Perhaps the biggest annual event in the town, the Newport
Music Festival attracts great crowds to
the grand mansions for the many different concerts.
There are performances morning, afternoon, and evening
for two consecutive weeks in mid-July. Because the
capacity of all the mansions and halls is limited,
it's best to order tickets—and to make reservations
for a hotel room—in advance.
The Newport Folk Festival & JVC
Jazz Festival draw thousands
of music-lovers to Fort Adams State Park
on alternate weekends in August. Performers

Outdoor Art Festival
The end of July sees Newport's Outdoor Art Festival,
when painters, sculptors, and craftspeople display
their works downtown and in several parks throughout
the city.
Fishing Tournaments
From June to October, tournaments are organized periodically
to see who can make a record catch of one of the
familiar fish in the waters off Newport. The chamber
of commerce can tell you more.
Tennis
Championships are held in July at the International
Tennis Hall of Fame (Newport Casino),
hosting the top professional male stars.
