The Captain Lindsey House Inn was built as a tavern and inn nearly two centuries ago. The red bricks for the building were fired right on the spot where it was built. Later used as an office building for Rockland's water works, the inn has been lovingly restored and its systems modernized by two experienced sea captains. It's now the most charming and welcoming inn in the very center of Rockland, a few minutes' stroll to the shops, cafés and restaurants on Main Street, to the Maine Lighthouse Museum, and the Farnsworth Art Museum. The nine guest rooms are decorated in period style, and have private bathrooms and all the modern comforts. Behind the inn, unsuspected when you look at the inn from the outside, is a shady "secret garden" terrace set with chairs and tables, a fine place for a snack and drink or some time with a book, or for catching up with your email.
