There are small-plane flights from Boston-Logan International Airport to Hancock County Airport, 10 miles from Bar Harbor (map). National airline flights land at Bangor ME, just over an hour by rental car from Bar Harbor. Bar Harbor has limited intercity bus service. There is no intercity train service nearby, (although you can take Amtrak's Downeaster between Boston MA and Portland ME). The Bar Harbor Ferry crosses Frenchman Bay daily from mid-June through September to give visitors a chance easily to visit the "other" side of Acadia National Park: the Schoodic Peninsula. More...
