Intercity TrainsAmtrak intercity trains connect Boston's South Station with New York City's Pennsylvania Station by way of the Connecticut Shoreline (New Haven, New London, Guilford, Mystic and Stonington CT), and Westerly and Providence RI. Several Amtrak trains provide daily service to other points in Massachusetts: —The Lakeshore Limited provides daily service between Boston, Worcester, Springfield MA in the Pioneer Valley, Pittsfield MA in the Berkshire Hills, Albany NY and eventually Chicago IL. —The Vermonter travels from Washington DC via Baltimore MD, Philadelphia PA, New York City, New Haven and Hartford CT to the Pioneer Valley stations of Springfield and Amherst MA before continuing north along the Connecticut River Valley to Brattleboro, White River Junction and other Vermont towns, ending its run at St Albans VT on the Quebec, Canada border. —The Downeaster runs five times daily between Boston's North Station, Portsmouth NH, the New Hampshire coast, the southern Maine coast and Portland ME. Eastern Mass'tts Commuter TrainsMBTA Commuter Rail trains from Boston serve suburbs on the Massachusetts Bay North Shore (including Salem, Gloucester and Rockport), the South Shore, (including Quincy and Plymouth), towns west of Boston (including Concord and Worcester), southeastern Massachusetts (including Fall River and New Bedford), and Providence RI and its T F Green Airport.
