(There are no ferries to Edgartown.)

You should have a reservation to ship your car off-season (November through May), and you must have a car reservation in the high-summer months from mid-June through early September.

Parking

Buses to/from Woods Hole
In high summer, Bonanza runs buses between the Steamship Authority car ferry docks in Woods Hole and Boston, Providence RI and New York City.

Although bus schedules leaving Woods Hole are designed to work in conjunction with ferry arrivals, connections are not guaranteed because bad weather can make the ferry late, and the bus does not wait for a late ferry. It departs according to its published schedule.

Avoid taking the last ferry of the day from Martha's Vineyard to Woods Hole (or to Hyannis) and count on getting the last bus out—you may in fact be able to do it, but it's not dependable. Take an earlier ferry, or be prepared to perhaps spend the night in Woods Hole or Falmouth.
