Several hotels in Boston's Financial District, centered on Post Office Square with its pretty Leventhal Park (and a big parking garage beneath it), are convenient if you're coming to Boston for banking or business, but not so convenient for sightseeing. However, because these are business-oriented hotels, they may have fewer guests on weekends, and thus may offer discounts to guests staying Friday and/or Saturday nights. The Financial District has several lunch places, but not a lot of restaurants for dinner. The streets are fairly empty in the evening.
